When the sender allows recipients to change their name, you can update your name during the signing process based on the actual situation.
If the sender does not allow name changes, you need to complete signing with the recipient name entered by the sender. If this name is inconsistent with the name on your ID document, you may need to contact the sender for assistance.
I. When Can I Change My Name?
Whether you can change your name depends on the sender’s setting when sending the envelope.
In general:
- If the name input field on the page is editable, you can change your name.
- If the name input field is not editable, the current envelope does not allow you to change your name by yourself.
- If you have already completed identity verification, the system will use the verified name as the final name, and you cannot change it again later.
If you are not sure whether you can change your name, refer to what is displayed on the signing page.
II. Change Your Name When Adding or Selecting a Signature
When you click the signature field in the document, the system opens a pop-up window for adding or selecting a signature. You can select an existing signature or add a new one.

III. Change Your Name During Identity Verification
If the envelope requires identity verification, the system will guide you to the identity verification page. You need to confirm your name, country/region, ID document type, and other information, then complete the verification as instructed.
- Open the signing task.
- Go to the identity verification page.

- Check the name in the name input field. If the field is editable, we recommend entering the name that matches your ID document. If the field is not editable, continue with the name displayed on the page.
- Select the country/region and ID document type.

- Click Next.
- Follow the on-page instructions to complete identity verification.

After identity verification is completed, the system compares the name on the ID document with the current recipient name. If the two names are consistent, you can continue signing.
If the system detects that the names are inconsistent, the page will display a prompt as shown below:

You can click Use ID Document Name and continue signing.
- If the page only indicates that the names are inconsistent but does not provide a button to update the name, the current envelope does not allow you to change the name by yourself. In this case, contact the sender for assistance.
After the sender handles the issue, you can reopen the signing task and continue:
- If the sender has updated the recipient name, you can continue signing.
- If the sender requires you to verify your identity again, you need to go through the identity verification process again.
- If the sender has not handled it yet, you will remain on the name inconsistency page and cannot continue signing for the time being.
